- We all produce waste. It's estimated that each person in New Mexico produces about six pounds of waste each day. In 1997, New Mexico disposed of 2.7-million tons of solid waste:
1,742,184 tons: Municipal Solid Waste
898,435 tons: Construction Debris
112,160 tons: Out of State Waste from Texas, Colorado and Mexico
267,000 tons of waste was diverted (recycled)
