Odor, Trash, Rodents and Birds
To control odor and rodents, landfills are required to cover garbage at least once a day with six inches of soil. Regulators say that should control odor. Despite that, residents often complain about landfill odor. Also, they complain about blowing trash, which they say, is not caught by the wind fences. Others complain landfills lead to an increase in disease carrying rodents.
