Las Cruces is Getting Vet Museum

Las Cruces, NM – The City of Las Cruces will be home to the state veteran's museum, that word from the Governor's office.

In a press release, Governor Bill Richardson announced he will visit Las Cruces Friday to sign House Bill 59 calling for the creation of a Veterans Museum in the southern New Mexico city.

The measure cleared the senate over the weekend after being approved in the house with unanimous support. The bill was sponsored by Las Cruces state representative Jeff Steinborn.

Omnibus Public Lands Act Clears the House

Las Cruces – The United States House of Representatives passed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act today by a vote of 285 to 140. The bill which cleared the Senate last week, will designate over 2 million acres of public land as wilderness. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the package of bills contains some special provisions for New Mexico.

Congressional Delegation Asks for BEST Team

Las Cruces, NM – New Mexico's congressional delegation is urging the Department of Homeland Security to create a Border Enforcement Security Task Force team within the state. The task force groups combine personnel from federal and local law enforcement agencies to combat cross border criminal organizations.
