Thousands of New Mexico Homeowners Facing Foreclosure May Benefit From Settlement

Las Cruces, NM – Thousands of New Mexico homeowners facing foreclosure may be eligible for mortgage loan modifications under a settlement agreement reached between the state Attorney General's office and Countrywide Home Loans. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, more than 8% of Countrywide's mortgage loans in the state are delinquent or facing foreclosure.

New Mexico Honored with National Safety Award

Las Cruces, NM – The State of New Mexico was recently honored with the 2008 Safety Leadership Award for its continuing efforts to reduce DWI and traffic related fatalities. Student Federal Reserve Program

Las Cruces – The El Paso branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has implemented a Las Cruces Student Board of Directors pilot program.

The program offers eight seniors from all four Las Cruces Public high schools a dynamic way to learn about the nation's central bank.

Students will serve on the board through May.

The program is designed to give them a thorough understanding of the Federal Reserve's role in the U.S. economy and experience a unique partnership with banks, businesses and the community.

Lawmakers to Consider Domestic Partnership Legislation

Albuquerque, NM – The New Mexico legislature will open this year's 60 day legislative session Tuesday. The first order of business will be to deal with a projected budget shortfall of at least 450 million dollars. Lawmakers will also consider other proposals on issues like education and drug courts. Campo Closure

Las Cruces – Campo Street will be closed between Las Cruces Avenue to May Avenue starting tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 7:00.

Businesses along Campo Street will have access to nearby parking areas ..with signs placed along the detour route.

It's anticipated that Campo will be closed for approximately two days.

The closure is necessary .as White Construction undertakes the tower crane dismantling operations on Campo ..as part of the Federal Courthouse Building Project.
