Man Impersonates Police Officer

Las Cruces, NM – Las Cruces Police Investigators are looking for a man, who impersonated a police officer this week, and pulled over a woman driving alone. Dean Creaming at NMSU

Las Cruces, NM – It was promoted as a way to get back at the authority figure. New Mexico State University students were given the opportunity to launch a pie at any College Dean of their choice for the price of three dollars. The problem, as KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, is that only a couple of college heads showed up for their scheduled pie in the face.

Biased and Racial Based Profiling Banned in NM

Las Cruces, NM – Tuesday, Governor Bill Richardson signed legislation prohibiting racial and biased-based profiling by law enforcement officers.

The new law makes it illegal for law enforcement officers to investigate anyone relying solely on the person's race, ethnicity, color or national origin among a list of other things.

The proposal was sponsored by State Representative Nathan Cote, of Las Cruces. It also requires the Attorney General to establish independent procedures for investigating any complaints.

State Environmental Improvement Board Classifies Greenhouse Gas Emissions as Pollutants

Las Cruces, NM – A decision reached Monday by the New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board concluded that greenhouse gas emissions qualify as pollutants under state law and are subject to regulation. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the decision is being hailed by Environment Department Secretary Ron Curry as historic.
