Families of Murdered Women Speak Out

Las Cruces, NM – Hundreds of women are dead or missing right across the American border, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Over the past thirteen years families and communities have struggled to get answers from the government. Family member, artists, activists and officials came together demanding justice for women at the J. Paul Taylor Symposium at NMSU. As KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, five relatives commenced the event with stories of their loss and struggle.

Field of Dresses: Ghostly Reminder of Murders in Chihuahua State

Las Cruces, NM – Last week's J. Paul Taylor Symposium for justice gave way with the words by relatives of some of the slain women of the Chihuahua state. First however, four-hundred dresses were hung on crosses as part of an installation commemorating the victims. As KRWG's Marco Grajeda reports, in just over ten years there have been at least that many unsolved murders of women, primarily in the border city of Juarez.

Las Cruces High School Students Walk Out

Las Cruces, NM – The U.S. Senate began deliberations this week of several bills geared towards immigration and border security issues. Late last year, the U.S. House passed the Border protection, antiterrorism and illegal immigration act. As KRWG's Michael Sears reports, today students at a local high school organzized a walk out to challenge the proposed bills.

This week, the United States Senate's debate over new legislation began. Commission Votes to Protect Fossil Track Ways

The Becky Fund- Part III

Las Cruces, NM – Las Crucen Dinny Bomberg is heading for Peru tomorrow. As heard in Parts I and II, she's on a mission honoring her daughter Becky, who died there three years ago. Through "The Becky Fund", Bomberg brings desperately needed school supplies to the poorest of Peruvian children who live in the Andes.
