King Wants Release Of Resignation Letter
By KRWG News
New Mexico – Attorney General Gary King says the secretary of state's office should release a resignation letter by a former elections director alleging ethical violations by Secretary of State Mary Herrera.
King said Friday the letter isn't exempt from the Inspection of Public Records Act.
The Associated Press has requested the letter by A. J. Salazar, who resigned last week as bureau of elections director.
Herrera has denied any wrongdoing and her office has declined to release Salazar's letter, which was first reported about by the Albuquerque Journal.
King said his office is reviewing the letter and its allegations.
Deputy Secretary of State Don Francisco Trujillo said the agency is consulting with government lawyers before making a final decision on whether to release Salazar's letter.
