New Mexico Enacts Clean Car Emissions Standards
By Evan Woodward
Las Cruces, NM – Tuesday night the New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board, and the Albuquerque-Bernalillo Air Quality Control Board voted to impose Clean Car standards on all new cars, SUV's and trucks sold in the state starting in model year 2011. This makes New Mexico the 13th state in the Union to adopt the standards, which will help curb air pollution and global warming. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the adoption of this program means that by 2016 new cars sold in the state will emit 34 percent less global warming emissions.
