State Lawmaker Expects Layoffs due to Worsening Budget Shortfall

Santa Fe, NM – A key budget lawmaker is saying the state may have to lay off workers later this year because of a worsening budget shortfall. A fiscal analysis indicates the state may face an additional 300 million dollar shortfall for the 2010 fiscal year, on top of the approximately 500 million dollar deficit lawmakers covered in the legislative session earlier this year.
