Violence in Juarez Escalates Despite Military Surge

Juarez, Mexico – Despite the deployment of nearly ten thousand Mexican soldiers and police, narco-violence is escalating in Ciudad Juarez. Dozens of people have been reported murdered since last weekend. As KUNM's Kent Paterson reports, many residents of the city bordering New Mexico now regard the Mexican government's U-S supported anti drug crackdown a failure.

Locals stay Optimistic despite non-relocation of Heavy Brigade Combat Team to WSMR

BLM Seeks Public Input on Power Line

Las Cruces, NM – The Bureau of Land Management, or BLM is asking for public input on a proposal by SunZia Transmission to construct a high-voltage power transmission line across New Mexico and Arizona. As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports, the proposed 460 mile line would be designed to transport electricity generated primarily from renewable resources.

Bingaman: Immigration Reform not on the Priority List

Santa Fe, NM – A day after a major immigration reform rally in Santa Fe, New Mexico U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman isn't holding out much hope for that reform anytime soon. The state's Senior Democratic Senator told KUNM Tuesday that despite increasing pressure from advocates, Congress has a full table that will have to be cleared off before immigration can be addressed.
